THOMAS A. E. EVANS, Q.C.

Born October 9, 1947 in Nicoll’s Town, Andros, Bahamas, was admitted to the Bahamas Bar in 1976.

He obtained his Bachelor of Law Degree-Second Class Honours: Upper Division from University of the West Indies 1971-1974; Norman Manley Law School (Legal Education Certificate) 1974-1976. Served as a Crown Counsel in the Attorney. General’s Office from 1976 to 1980; in private practice since that time except for two occasions when he served as Stipendiary & Circuit magistrate in 1981 and 1983, respectively and in 1989, 1996 and 1998 when he served as Justice of the Supreme Court of The Bahamas. He is also a former Treasurer of Bahamas Bar Association, former Lecturer and Examiner in the law of contract. Criminal Law and Procedure for the Bahamas Bar Examiner in Hotel Law at Bahamas Hotel Training College.

Former Director of Central Bank of The Bahamas; Chairman of Industrial Relations Arbitration Tribunal Bahamas; associate tutor in the Law of Evidence at the Eugene Dupuch Law school and appointed Queens Counsel on May 6, 1996.  He is presently a lecturer in the Law of Evidence at the Eugene Dupuch Law school and was a former member of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission.

He is the principal host of the radio programme "Evans & Company Legal Brief" and also author of a number of articles on various legal topics including Offshore Trust and Offshore Investments generally which articles were published both locally and internationally.

Areas of Practice
Criminal Litigation, Industrial Relations Matters, Civil Litigation and in particular Commercial matters with a Private International Law Content, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Banking and Offshore Matters.
